Notes:
What they call "quick breads" -- it gets its rising power from the beer and so-called chemical leavening agents, thereby making it the sort of thing you could actually think about the afternoon you were planning dinner and still see it on your supper table. A beautiful recipe as it can be greatly modified by simply changing the beer ingredient.
Ingredients:
1 cup
whole wheat or bread flour
1 cup
all-purpose flour
1/2 cup
old-fashioned oats
2 Tbl
sugar
2 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
salt
12 oz
non-stout beer, not flat
Preparation:
Mix the dry ingredients together and add the beer into the mixture, folding the ingredients until moistened. Scrape the mixture into a 8 1/2" x 4 1/2" greased pan and bake 35-40 minutes at 400F degrees or until a toothpick inserted at the center comes out clean. Allow to cool for 10-15 minutes on a wire rack before serving.
