Dennis's Meaty Cheesy Things

Notes
Dennis made these for a string of appearances, occasionally command performances. They are mighty tasty down-home stylee (I mean, yeah -- Velveeta!). Two packages of rye might be a bit much depending on how much you spoon on there.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 lb Italian sausage
1 lb Velveeta cheese, cut into small cubes
1 yellow onion, diced
2 Tbl Italian seasoning
2 pkgs party rye bread
Preparation
Saute the beef, sausage and onions in a pan over medium heat and drain off the fat. Add the Italian seasoning & Velveeta and stir over low heat until the Velveeta has softened and the ingredients have mixed together.

Spoon a tablespoon or two of mixture onto each rye toast and place on a cooking sheet.

Can be made ahead and frozen. Heat mixture under a broiler until the rye browns slightly.
