If there were a picnic battle, fall in behind General Brown. Alton serves up "Kinda Sorta Sours" which sound like something pulled from a cooler reverentially at certain BBQs.
Ingredients

thinly sliced

medium cucumbers,
thinly sliced

garlic cloves,
smashed
|
|
1 cup
|
water
|
|
1 cup
|
cider vineager
|
|
1/2 cup
|
champagne vinegar (or other light vinnegar?)
|
|
1/2 cup
|
sugar
|
|
2 Tbl + 2 tsp
|
kosher salt
|
|
1 tsp
|
mustard seeds
|
|
1/4 tsp
|
tumeric
|
|
1 tsp
|
celery seeds
|
|
1 tsp
|
pickling spice
|
Preparation
In a clean spring-top jar combine onion, cucumbers and garlic cloves.
Boil water, cider and champagne vinegar, sugar, salt, mustard seeds, tumeric, celery seeds and pickling spice together in a non-reactive pot or pan. Bring to a boil and simmer for four minutes.
Carefully pour pickling liquid over vegetable mixture, filling to top of jar.
Cool to room temperature before adding any additional liquid and refrigerate.
